Pearl Jam NOT going on hiatus

I know you’ve heard the rumors and freaked out (believe you me, I was freaked too) but everyone can calm down. Pearl Jam is not going on hiatus which can be a scary word when it comes to bands.
Last night in Portugal, PJ played a show and at one point Eddie Vedder decided to address the crowd in Portuguese. He pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and began reading some phrases. One of those phrases, when translated in English, was that the show they were playing would be their last one for a long time. Well something must have gotten lost in translation because the next thing we knew, the Internet blew up with stories of Pearl Jam going on hiatus and the band was breaking up.
But the band’s publicist released a statement to TheNewsTribune.com which stated that Vedder says that statement “at the end of all tours, meaning that the tour is over. I think the remarks got a bit lost in translation.” So you can all breathe a sigh of relief. Pearl Jam ain’t goin’ nowhere. But can someone please give Eddie some Portuguese lessons so that we don’t have to go through this again?
Video of Eddie Vedder addressing the crowd can be watched down below. They do seem bummed out when he says it’s their last show.
