Second wave of Jimi Hendrix re-issues coming in October

In honor of the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix’s death, more of his albums are being re-issued and released this October for fans and collectors.
The first round of releases included his albums Are You Experienced?, Electric Ladyland, Axis: Bold As Love and Valleys of Neptune, which was a collection of previously unheard songs recorded by the guitar god. This time, on October 9th, the albums Jimi Hendrix Experience: BBC Sessions, Jimi Hendrix: Blues, Live at Woodstock and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year will be released on CD and vinyl.
BBC Sessions, which focuses on Hendrix’s performances on BBC radio and television programs, will also include a 30-minute DVD documentary of some of Hendrix’s appearances. Blues will feature a 30-minute segment called “Jimi Hendrix and the Blues” on DVD from Martin Scorsese’s Presents The Blues series. Live at Woodstock will be a re-issue of Hendrix’s legendary performance from the 1969 festival and Merry Christmas is an EP which features his take on holiday classics like “Little Drummer Boy,” “Auld Lang Syne” and “Silent Night.”
All these releases will culminate in a four CD box set called West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology. The set will span his career — from sideman in a band to the legend we all know and love. It will include rare demos, alternative takes and a documentary on his life.
