Brendan Benson says the Raconteurs will return

Brendan Benson is raising the hopes of Raconteurs fans everywhere when he told NME that the band will return.
Benson, the guitarist and other singer in the band, was commenting on the return of the Greenhornes which includes Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler who played bass and drums in the Raconteurs respectively. Benson said that the two of them “had a record that they sat on forever during The Raconteurs, so that’s finally coming out.” But he stressed that all the members of the Raconteurs were eager to do more after the Greenhornes reunited.
“We haven’t talked about it, but [doing more]‘s not out of the question. The Raconteurs is a band that was founded on this impulsive basis,” Benson said. “It was always spontaneous for us and we want to keep it that way. So when the time is right and everyone converges we’ll do it.”
I hope he’s not tugging at heartstrings here because I think Consolers of the Lonely is still one of the best albums I’ve heard in a while. I could definitely go for some more Raconteurs tunes but with Jack White just finishing up Dead Weather commitments and moving on to who knows what, it could be a while before this happens. But I can dream, can’t I? You should too.

I really like the Dead Weather man. Wherever that bundle of musicians ends up rolling over, I’ll like ‘em.

I really hope this comes true (after a new White Stripes album of course).
