Watch: Queens of the Stone Age play benefit show in L.A.

Queens of the Stone Age returned to U.S. soil over the weekend to play a benefit concert in Los Angeles for Eagles of Death Metal bassist Brian O’Connor who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

It was the first show the band had played in the U.S. since 2008 and it was a barn burner. According to Spin, Eagles of Death Metal featured O’Connor on bass for the evening. He skipped treatment so that he could play the show. Well, if music doesn’t heal all things, then I don’t know what does.

After the opening set by EODM, and surprise openers Last Shadow Puppets and Alain Johannes, Queens finally took the stage. Needless to say, the L.A. crowd, some of whom paid $250 for a ticket, were floored by their set. They kicked things off with “Misfit Love” from Era Vulgaris and followed it up with “Sick, Sick, Sick” and “Feel Good Hit Of The Summer.” All in all, the band played 19 songs which included a four-song encore with Screaming Trees singer Mark Lanegan performing lead vocals.

Down below you can check out some videos of the evening’s performance. Here’s hoping that O’Connor gets better soon and that QOTSA rock the U.S. on a full tour in 2011.
