R.E.M. finishing up new album in Nashville
Looks like R.E.M. is hard at work finishing up their new album in Nashville, TN as we can see by the video that I have conveniently posted below this sentence.
Looks like Michael Stipe is busy getting his space-age sound groove on while everyone else in the studio starts rhythmically clapping. Is it safe to say I’m already excited about the song having heard nothing but clapping and an alien tone?
The album is expected to be out in 2011 and band manager Bertis Downs wrote on the official website that they’re “in the homestretch of making what sounds to me like a great R.E.M. record.” I know he’s the manager so it’s his job to make it sound great but this is R.E.M. we’re talking about so…yeah, I’ll take his word for it.

Great news! The double live album last year was amazing! Can’t wait for the new recording!
