Weezer announce “Blinkerton” dates for NYC

I’ve seen Weezer twice in New York City: once at Madison Square Garden and once at the P.C. Richard’s theater for an intimate show. While both were good, I feel that my third time could probably be my best viewing of them due to the fact that the Memories tour dates for NYC have finally been announced.

The Weez will be at the Roseland Ballroom in the Big Apple on December 17th and 18th where they will perform their “Blue Album” and Pinkerton, respectively, in their entirety. Other dates for Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago have already been announced and you can see the full itinerary down below. Tickets for the NYC shows go on sale October 16th, with an American Express pre-sale going on from October 9th to the 15th.

Now the real question is which show do I go to? While the “Blue Album” has memorable pop-rock classics from “My Name Is Jonas” to “Surfwax America,” Pinkerton will allow me to relive my tortured teenage years as “El Scorcho” totally relates to my love/hate relationship with those goddamn half-Japanese girls. I swear, they do it to me every time.

  1. Rock it Out! Blog » Blog Archive » Weezer asked to break up for $10 Million Says:

[...] If you had a band and someone offered to pay you $10 million to break up, would you do it? You probably would since your band isn’t famous but what if your band was Weezer? Would you do it then? The Stranger reports (via Pitchfork) that a man named James Burns from Seattle wants to raise $10 million so that Weezer will break up. He posted his pitch at ThePoint.com and it reads as thus: I have never been a fan of this band. I think that they are pretty much horrible, and always have been. Even in the early 90’s. But this isn’t about me. This is about the Weezer fans. They are our brothers and sisters, our friends, our lovers. Every year, Rivers Cuomo swears that he’s changed, and that their new album is the best thing that he’s done since “Pinkerton,” and what happens? Another pile of crap like “Beverly Hills” or “I’m Your Daddy.” This is an abusive relationship, and it needs to stop now. I am tired of my friends being disappointed year after year.I am tired of endless whimsical cutesy album covers and music videos. I’m sick of hearing about whatever this terrible (and yes, even if you like the early stuff, you should be able to admit that they are wretched now) excuse for a band is up to these days. If all 852,000 of you (really?) who bought “Pinkerton” pitch in $12, we will meet our goal. I beg you, Weezer. Take our money and disappear. So far, Burns has managed to only raise about $150 since this campaign has taken flight. But he’s managed to get the attention of the band. Drummer Patrick Wilson posted on his Twitter account that “if they can make it 20 [million], we’ll do the ‘deluxe breakup.’” Burns has said that if he actually raises the money (good luck with that) but the band refuses to break up, he’ll “refund everybody’s money, minus the 5% that The Point takes.” He also said that he would be willing to withdraw all the money from his bank account to see Attack Attack! break up. I’m thinking he’s got a much better chance of that happening. Meanwhile, Weezer just announced dates for their upcoming Memories tour in NYC. All the dates can be seen here. [...]
