The Decemberists announce new album

If you’re not a fan of the Decemberists by now, then you need to get on the ball. Their last two albums, The Crane Wife and The Hazards of Love, were stellar listens and I’m sure their forthcoming album will be no different.
Consequence of Sound reports that Colin Meloy and his merry band of well-read, well-spoken musicians will release their new album, The King is Dead, in January. 10 new tracks, including three featuring R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, will appear on the album and Meloy says that this new release will be more of a straightforward rock/folk sound.
Three songs have made their way to YouTube via live performances. They’re called “Down By The Water,” “Rise To Me” and “June Hymn.” Simply click the titles to check them out. The tracklisting for the album is down below.
UPDATE: The first song from the album, “Down By The Water,” is now available for download at their official website. So check it out down below and then grab that bad boy for yourself.
