Listen: Cage The Elephant – Shake Me Down

Up top you can check out the unofficial video for Cage The Elephant’s new single, “Shake Me Down,” from their forthcoming album Thank You, Happy Birthday which is in stores on January 11th.

If you’ve never seen Cage live before, then this vid will give you a quick glimpse into their world when they’re on tour. As for the song itself, don’t expect it to come roaring out of the gate like “In One Ear” or even to be a foot stomper like “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked.” This tune sounds like the band has matured a bit and gives a sense of “Yes, we can rock but we can also write.” It’ll take a spin or two to grow on you but it will.

“Shake Me Down” will be one of the songs Cage will release on 7″ vinyl on November 26th exclusively in indie record stores around the country. The b-side for the song is called “Aberdeen.” You can head to to see what indie store near you is participating in the festivities.
