Slipknot playing Sonisphere festival in 2011
Corey Taylor that Slipknot won’t be making a record anytime soon but shows were a possibility. Thet possibility just became a definitely.
Slipknot have been confirmed to play the Sonisphere festival in 2011. The first stop of the festival will be in Hertfordshire, England from June 8-11 (via .) Taylor that more shows are expected to be announced soon. His reasoning behind the shows are simple: “For the fans.”
The band recently released a statement that said the tour is also in honor of their former bassist Paul Gray who died this past May in Des Moines, Iowa. “It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer.”
For those wondering whether the band will replace Gray, drummer Joey Jordison said to that they’ll have someone play bass on stage but they won’t be a new member of the band.
These will definitely be bittersweet shows that will no doubt be a huge celebration of Gray’s life. If you can get tickets to these performances, consider yourself a lucky bastard.
