Gorillaz releasing new album on Christmas
Whatever else you may have asked for this Christmas you may or may not get. But there’s one present that will definitely be underneath your digital Christmas tree on December 25th. Gorillaz are giving their brand new album away for free on December 25th!

Speaking to Perth Now (via CoS), Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett let it slip that the new album, which was made entirely on an iPad, will be out on Christmas day. Hewlett said “On Christmas Eve a video for one of the new songs from the iPad album will be released. Then, on Christmas Day fans get the whole album downloaded to their computer for free as a gift.”
Albarn, who called this album “a kind of diary of my experience in America,” wanted to release the album before the new year because he didn’t want “anyone to think I’d tampered with it…If I left it until the New Year to release it then the cynics out there would say ‘Oh well, it’s been tampered with’, but if I put it out now they’d know that I haven’t done anything because I’ve been on tour ever since.”
Gorillaz have already been giving away daily “gifts” via their online advent calendar. Some gifts have included music videos, online games and masks to print out and wear. But the greatest gift will come from four animated primates and not the fat man in the red suit who I’m sure is riddled with diabetes by now. Merry Christmas!
