Eddie Vedder, Chris Martin on shortlist to win an Oscar

Award season is just around the corner and, even though tons of bloggers (myself included) will tell you how much they don’t give a shit, we have to so that we have something to gripe about. We’re gripers…it’s how we roll.
But since all the upcoming awards are about movies, the only categories we have to make a fuss over are Best Original Song and Best Original Score. In the case of the Oscars, the shortlist of potential nominees was recently released (thanks to 24B) and there are a few rockers that may possibly be nominated for an Academy Award.
For Best Original Song, some artists include Eddie Vedder’s “Better Days” aka that one song we all thought was a new Pearl Jam tune for a minute. Others include Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi and his song “Sticks and Stones” from How To Train Your Dragon, Beck and Devandra Banhart’s theme for the film Life During Wartime, Metric’s “Eclipse (All Yours)” from Twilight: Eclipse and Chris Martin for the song “Me and Tennessee” from the movie Country Strong. The song is actually sung by Martin’s wife and star of the movie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Tim McGraw but it’s Martin who may get the award since he wrote the tune.
Down below you can check out the tracks and decide for yourself which one should get the nomination. You can see the full shortlist here.
