New Strokes album out by March

Looks like we finally got that confirmation about the new Strokes album that we were waiting for.
Speaking to BBC’s Zane Lowe, Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture confirmed that the new album from New York City’s dapper band is “in the mixing stage” and that it’ll be released this March. This confirms what frontman Julian Casablancas said back in late 2010.
Fraiture says that this album, their fourth, “should have been made between Room On Fire and First Impressions Of Earth.” He adds that, because the band members were off releasing their own projects, they didn’t see each other for quite some time. This led to “a lot of weird energy flowing around” when they finally got together for the writing sessions.
We do remember that the Strokes did play some shows last summer but they didn’t play any new tracks. The reason behind that, according to Fraiture, is because “in the age of the internet we didn’t want the new songs to be heard in a crappy way.” But you can expect the songs to be heard in a non-crappy way when the band go “touring around the world” after the release of the album.
