Watch: Against Me! rehearse with Jay Weinberg on drums
Against Me! have already got a packed schedule for the first three months of 2010. Their headlining tour kicks off January 15th with a hometown show in Gainesville, FL and goes until February 13th. Then the Florida punks team up with Boston’s Irish-rockers, Dropkick Murphys, for a tour starting February 23rd in Niagara Falls, NY. All the dates are at Against Me!’s website.
So with all this touring coming up a band has gotta rehearse, right? Thus the videos up top and down below. You can check out against me playing with their new drummer Jay Weinberg. Hmmm…a drummer named Weinberg you say? He couldn’t possibly be related to Max Weinberg of Springsteen’s E Street Band and formerly of the Max Weinberg 7 on Conan O’Brien’s old show, could he? Oh yes he could.
But does this mean that Weinberg is the band’s permanent drummer? Lead singer Tom Gabel told Spin magazine that “I’ve just learned over the past couple years to not sign anything or to not make anything 100% concrete,” but he did add that he was “looking forward to that being more of a long-term thing and hopefully that’ll be what happens.”
