Listen: Modest Mouse – “Poison”/”Lampshades on Fire”



In case you’ve had your head buried inside your own arse, Outkast rapper Big Boi has been working with Modest Mouse on their brand new record. Now I know some of you rock purists will be all, “No! That’ll ruin MM’s sound! No hip-hop!” Calm down, hater. It’s always cool to bring in fresh blood when working on new tunes. Especially when the new tunes sound like this.

That’s not from the studio. That’s a high quality soundboard recording of a brand new song called “Poison.” Down below is another new track called “Lampshades on Fire” (thanks to our west coast mate, TwentyFourBit.) MM took the stage at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in Washington this past weekend and dropped these bombs on the crowd. Whether they’ll appear on the new album is yet to be seen but at least you nod your head to these rock n’ roll beats.
