Listen: Coldplay – “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”

Well here it is. The brand new Coldplay song called “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”…and apparently Chris Martin wants to get fans to dance. It’s an upbeat tune with a four-on-the-floor beat that will likely get the hundreds of thousands of people who see the band live to jump up and down at the same time with their hands in the air. Not gonna lie, this track reminds me a lot of U2. Primarily the guitar sound in the song sounds very Edge-like. Is Coldplay prepping to take over Bono’s mantle? This song seems to be the pre-cursor to that claim on this forthcoming album, which is still untitled and has no release date.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of the song yet and not really sure if I will be. It just seems that the song came out just at the right time for DJ’s to remix the shit out of it into a big dance tune for the clubs this summer. Add a verse from Pitbull on this thing and kids everywhere will think this is the greatest song ever. What are your thoughts on the track?

    Is it going to be a hit? Yes.
    Is it Bad? No.
    Is it good? No.
    Is this something new? Definitely not.
    Did I like it? Really don’t care.

    Overall = I’ll Pass.

    It was good, really wasn’t the greatest thing, but it will definitely be a song for the summer, and that is something I really miss from Coldplay, some real feel good songs, instead of the more serious tone they seem to have throughout their discography, and for that I applaud them because this single will be hated on, and will also be praised, but the one thing that really makes this a good song is the guitar, it really outshines Chris Martin’s vocals, which is an extremely difficult task. The reason I think this song works is because the guitar line is hammered enough times that you’ll be finding yourself humming it wherever you may go, so decide for yourself if it is a good song.

    When he moves, when he dances he looks like the nerd who sit quietly at the corner of the room – the one that you know he starts feeling free and he freaks. The one who is a genius. Chris Martin is the most important poet of this time – since poetry has always been that oomph turning on the crowd. You could say this even three years ago, when Coldplay released Viva la vida – today, you would shout it again at the performance of Every teardrop is a waterfall. Coldplay reach the higher level of art and rhythm – like Caravaggio, Mozart, Coleridge did at their own time. The beat on the quavers, the Coldplay’s code, is a value – let’s say it – a brand, like the Caravaggio’s shadow indeed. With their beat on the quavers everything becomes immediately easy and huge, and every teardrop, yes, every teardrop becomes a waterfall.
