Korn’s new album is going dubstep
Yup, looks like Korn is going the dubstep route…and to be honest it sounds way more energetic than much of their previous releases. Bassist Fieldy confirmed to NME.com at the Download festival that the band’s next album, which is scheduled to come out this year, has the band collaborating with “six or seven dubstep producers.” He added that the album is nearly done and that frontman Jonathan Davis has to finish a few more vocal cuts.
Korn’s new direction was first evidenced at the Coachella festival when they joined dubstep DJ, Skrillex, on stage to perform a song called “Get Up!”. It got a pretty good reaction from the crowd considering the last band you would expect to see at the dance tent was Korn. Down below, you can listen to the rock/dubstep banger and sing along with the lyrics on the screen. But considering the main lyrics are “Shut the fuck up!/Get up!,” you shouldn’t have too much of a problem following along.

To everyone who is bashing Korn, which bands do you like? I would hope that it wouldn’t be anything after 1994, cause to bash Korn would be to bash any metal band that came out after them as they set the new direction for metal as we knew it then. I would argue to say that much of what has come out after them is garbage. Like them or not you have to respect them as they laid the ground work for other main acts. It is also my hope for the Korn fans out there that you listen to the bands that made Korn possible. One in particular is Faith No More. Others would include Skinny puppy, Pantera, Bauhaus, ect… These guys paved the way for nu-metal to even be possible. Know your roots and you will find less to complain about. I see the new Korn album as the band tying all of their influences together over the years and doing something pretty ballzy, and that is taking a chance and telling people to fuck themselves if they don’t like it. That’s what art is all about.

I am a Huge KoRn fan Buti Have mixed feelings about this song. I understand the aiming for a new direction, but i dont think dubstep was the best idea. i am not bashing KoRn, in fact long live KoRn! Their Fucking Gods in Metal, but dubstep doesn’t belong with KoRn

Cool out, guyz. It’s just a special album. I don’t think (and hope) they’re gonna keep playing dubstep – the initial idea was an EP. I hope KoRn makes heavier, more brutal stuff in the future.

well, let me just point out that, yes, this is not an expected direction for KoRn to go but I think they did a great job. Everyone just needs to be humbled when they break the mold, AGAIN. I LOVE KoRn! I’m not a big dubstep fan though. But my boyfriend is so I have to deal. When I found out I could listen to KoRn’s new songs…I didn’t want to listen to it just because I hate dubstep. So I was doing the dishes and Narcissistic Cannibal came on and holy shit! Talk about a music-gasm. I know it sounds way different from their other songs but it doesn’t sound BAD. KoRn is AWESOME and hopefully they’ll NEVER retire!!!! *cough cough* (@ Forest)
