Stream: Dream Theater – “On The Backs of Angels”



Dream Theater is giving us a rather large sneak peak at the sound of their forthcoming album, A Dramatic Turn of Events. The album is in stores on September 13th and you can the over eight minute track, “On The Backs of Angels,” over on YouTube. This is the first Dream Theater album featuring new drummer Mike Mangini who replaced Mike Portnoy after he left to record and tour with Avenged Sevenfold.     I have been a fan of DT since the 1999 when “Scenes From a Memory” came out (my favourite album of the band still!).

    I think in this song Dream Theater show their progressive side, the one we have seen in Octavarium and Falling Into Infinity. Definitely a band that renews itself in every album without losing its identity.

    This song brings me to the album Images and Words, DT best album in my opinion. progressive.
    I also have not seen the greatness of this new drummer. Maybe my ears stuck on guitar & keyboards.. \m/
