Listen: Blink-182 – “Up All Night”

Well, it finally arrived. The first new single from Blink-182 since 2005 is finally available for you to check out. It’s called “Up All Night” from their forthcoming album, Neighborhoods, which still has no release date. And how do we feel about this track? Does it bring me back to the way I felt when I heard “Rock Show” or “All The Small Things”? Umm…..no.
It’s not a bad song, per se, but maybe it’s because I’m not as young as I was when Blink hit the scene with their colossal pop-punk hits and awesome music videos. Tom Delonge still whines all through a song, Travis Barker still keeps a mean beat and Mark Hoppus just does what he does to make the band work. In all, the Warped Tour kids will like it and die hards will play it on full blast repeatedly. As for me, I’ll just wait and see what the rest of the album has in store. Not bad, Blink, but you can do better.

Sounds alot more like a song from Boxcar Racer’s or Angels and Airwaves’s 2nd album.
And i agree, it’s nothing like classic Blink. definitely not what i was expecting. not a horrible song, but nothing special.

You’re 100% correct, Sami. Average, but probably a song that grows on you.

Well.
I’m not the target, clearly.
I used to be. But I can see that not anymore.
It’s ok.

For me, the best parts of the song are the parts that sound nothing like Blink-182.

Bullshit! This is amazing. If you’ve loved blink, you’ll still love blink. End of story.

I actually think this is pretty cool. They are taking little bits and pieces of everything they have ever worked on, and blending them into one song.

Sounds to me like a Box Car Racer song – not the progressive direction I was hoping Blink would take after their 6 year hiatus. That being said, it’s growing on me and am excited for the album. This is coming from an avid fan since the mid-nineties.

Honestly if the song kept to the theme of that dirty hook at the beginning I’d have liked it a heap more. But I was never a Blink fan so I’ll stay where I am I think.

This song isn’t like their past material because it doesn’t suck at all, it is a fairly enjoyable song to listen to.

I can’t help but feel like I’ve heard all of this before: the riffs, the vocals, the effects. It’s not a disappointment, because it’s a new Blink-182 song, and I don’t think anyone who cares about Blink-182 would be disappointed; people who don’t care won’t care; and people who hate them will still hate them. But to me, it’s not something I’ll be revisiting, just because I don’t feel like it’s anything new to add to the music I already have.
