Black Sabbath reunites with original lineup, releasing album in 2012
Ozzy Osbourne. Tony Iommi. Geezer Butler. Bill Ward. Once upon a time, these four were once collectively called Black Sabbath and it looks like they’re finally getting back together for another round.
Speaking to the (via ), Iommi said that the original members are getting back together and planning on releasing a new album in 2012. It’ll be their first album together since 1978′s Never Say Die!
Iommi said in the interview, “We’re really looking forward to it and I think the stuff we’ve been writing is really good…It’s more back to the old original stuff.” He added that the members of the band tried to keep the reunion hush-hush which is why Ozzy was always saying things like, “I never say never.”
So while an album is coming, there’s no word on a tour considering that drummer Bill Ward hasn’t been in the best of health, most recently suffering from a heart attack. “‘He hasn’t been 100 percent,” Iommi said. “He had an operation a few months ago, so we’ll see how he is.”
Let’s hope all these guys remain healthy. As awesome as Black Sabbath is, they’re not young men anymore. If a tour happens, then great but if not…well at least we’re getting a new album from them. That’s good enough, right?
