Radiohead touring in 2012, Atoms for Peace releasing album
As if Radiohead taking over New York City next week wasn’t big enough, frontman Thom Yorke gave us fans a couple more reasons to smile big. Yorke made the announcement on Gilles Peterson’s show on that RH would tour in 2012 in support of their album, The King of Limbs.
“The idea is to go out and play next year on and off during the year, “said Yorke. “It feels like a good idea now that we figured out how to play it to go and do it in front of people for a bit.” The singer said that the band got the idea after playing their set at the Glastonbury festival earlier this summer. Yorke also said that Portishead’s drummer, Clive Dreamer, who played drums with the band at Glasto, would hit the road with them next year.
But that’s not all! Yorke’s band, Atoms for Peace – featuring Flea, Nigel Godrich, Mauro Refosco and Joey Waronker – will be releasing an album. It has no release date as of yet but Godrich is currently finishing up the album.
“It was initially for fun to play all the Eraser stuff, but it sparked something off,” Yorke said of Atoms. “So we ended up at the end of that getting into the studio and generating some new beats.”
