Maynard James Keenan gives an update on Tool

Plenty of people have been continually asking about Tool and when their new album will be released. Well we still don’t have an answer. But we can offer up some quotes from frontman Maynard James Keenan to keep you excited for the time being.
Speaking to Loudwire (via Antiquiet), Keenan said that guitarist Adam Jones and drummer Danny Carey are already writing the music for the album. “I’m allowing them their space to do what they do, so we’re still in that mode,” said Keenan. He added that he doesn’t plan on getting involved with the album until Jones and Carey are finished.
So obviously the next question would be, “How long until the music is done?” Keenan has no actual answer for you but he does say, “Even if they told me how close they are to being done, I couldn’t tell you because if I say 60 percent people will start counting down. When it’s done everyone will know. But I haven’t done anything yet. They write forever and then we go in and knock it all out. We’re writing. We’re writing vocals.”
So we can speculate that the new album will be out in 2012 but Keenan would never admit to it. So for now you can get excited about this and create your own rumors.
