Black Sabbath holding press conference on 11/11/11

November 11, 2011 is being dubbed National Metal Day by VH1 Classic…which means nothing since VH1 Classic is a channel not many people watch. But 11/11/11 is also the day that Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward aka Black Sabbath will be holding a press conference at the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles at 11:11 am local time (via Rolling Stone).

More than likely, that will be when Black Sabbath finally confirms what we’ve known was coming for a long time. That’s when they’ll shock the world (gasp!) and probably announce they’re finally reuniting. Even though back in August the Birmingham Mail published quotes from Iommi which included the gem, “We’re really looking forward to it and I think the stuff we’re writing is really good. It’s more back to the old original stuff.” Then Iommi furiously denied any quotes blahblahblah.

Seriously, if the public knows this stuff is happening already, why hold it off until a specific date? This isn’t the 60′s or 70′s or 80′s….or even 90′s when bands could actually keep secrets from us. We know things about the band before the band does. Don’t toy with us. Just let us know what’s up. We’ll still be excited whether you tell us on 11/11/11 or 2/14/09.

But I shouldn’t be bitter. This is good news. We’ve all been waiting for a proper reunion from this band and it’s good we’ll finally be getting one. Now let’s hope the music/live shows don’t suck.
