Mastodon releasing split single with Feist for Record Store Day

You’re getting the heads up from now that Record Store Day 2012 is going to be awesome.
In a recent interview with MTV News Canada, Mastodon frontman Troy Sanders revealed that the band will be releasing a split single with Canadian songstress Leslie Feist and her band for next year’s vinyl holiday. Sanders says in the clip down below that “the idea is for Mastodon to cover a Feist song and throw some hair and dirt on it. They’re gonna take a Mastodon song and pretty it up a little bit.”
Sanders added they’re hoping to record the singles in December before Mastodon hits the road in January. There’s no word as to what songs will be covered but I’m pulling for Feist to take on “The Czar” from Crack The Skye. Hipsters won’t know what to do with themselves…and neither will I.
