Watch: Metallica Lou Reed – The View
I know, I know. You never wanted anything to do with the Lou Reed/Metallica debacle known as Lulu but allow me to lead you once more into the fray, dear friends.
Up top, courtesy of , is the Darren Aronofsky directed video for the song “The View” which was the album’s first single. Originally the video was to be shot for the song “Iced Honey” but, according to a press release, Aronofsky had a change of heart.
“The first time I heard ‘The View’ I was stunned,” Aronofsky said. “I had never heard anything like it. Half was all Lou. The other half all Metallica. It was a marriage that on the surface made no sense, but the fusion changed the way I thought about both artists and morphed into something completely fresh and new. I couldn’t stop listening to it. Lou’s crushing lyrics, and the band’s incredible licks.”
And Reed decided to get in on the quote fun too. He said, “I am very excited about working with Darren Aronofsky on our powerful video ‘The View,’. I feel Darren understood the power and range of the emotions fueled by the fire of Metallica. His strength and spirit are on display in every frame and I think he has caught the anger, rage and anguish at the bottom of the soul of real rock.”
I’m not exactly sure where they’re getting their descriptions of the song from because I never heard all those adjectives used before. Anyways, watch the black and white video up top and then go about your day.
