Listen: The National – “The Rains Of Castamere”

Winter is coming and it sounds a lot closer with The National providing a song for the Game Of Thrones soundtrack.

Down below you can check out “The Rains Of Castamere” sung in a deep, full bass by frontman Matt Berninger (via CoS). The song was written by the author of the Game Of Thrones series, George R.R. Martin. Apparently, the song was written about Lord Tywin Lannister’s crushing victory over rebellious House Reyne of Castamere and the destruction of the House at the end of their rebellion.

Yes, I’ve probably spoiled a major upcoming plot point for you. Enjoy!

Aerosmith releasing new album on August 28th

Looks like Aerosmith are keeping their word about releasing a brand new album this year. Music From Another Dimension will hit record stores on August 28th and it’s the band’s first album in eight years.

Down below you can stream the album’s lead single, “Legendary Child”, which the band played on last night’s season finale of American Idol. The tracklisting for the album is also down below.

And let’s not forget that Aerosmith and Cheap Trick are touring together this summer. All the dates can be seen at Aerosmith’s official website.

Tenacious D are making fruit sexy. Jack Black and Kyle Gass have released a video for “Low Hangin’ Fruit”; a tribute to the ladies who don’t rank higher than a 5 on the hot scale. One of the more anticipated albums of 2012 is the double album from metal outfit Baroness called Yellow & Green.

Which is why it’s beyond awesome that you can check out the first track from the album called “Take My Bones Away” down below. And, based on the track, the band definitely falls into a groove while still bringing the noise. Yellow & Green comes out on July 17th.

The Avengers is still in theaters and is still the big draw in its second week. It also had a brand new song from Soundgarden in its credits and on its soundtrack. The new Johnny Depp movie, Dark Shadows, is out this weekend and features a new cover song from The Killers.

Down below, courtesy of Radio 104.5, you can check out The Killers covering The Raspberries’ “Go All The Way”. The song appears on the film’s soundtrack and also appears during the end credits of the film. So…I guess that’s a reason to go see the movie? Maybe?

Listen: Million Dollar Demo tracks from Foo Fighters leak online

A little history lesson for those that are uninformed. Back before the Foo Fighters released 2002′s One By One, they got together to record the album in 2001. Turmoil and drama within the band during the recording sessions caused the Foos to almost break up and the recordings made during that period were scrapped. The demos would later be called the Million Dollar Demo by the band.

Thanks to Grunge Report, we now get a chance to check out some of those demos. Down below you can listen to the demo versions of “Have It All” and “Come Back” and, as you’ll hear, they seem to have a bit more weight behind them. Do you prefer the demo versions instead of the songs that made it on to One By One? Listen and make the call.
