U2′s stage is ridiculous!

U2 kicked off their 360 world tour last night in Barcelona, Spain and what a kickoff it was! Would you look at that stage. It’s like it was built on one of Jupiter’s moons 50 years in the future! What is that miraculous, ridiculous thing?!

The band and the crew call it “The Claw” and it’s a 360 degree stage put right in the center of the stadiums that they’re playing on this tour. If you want a virtual tour of the stage then click right over here to see the stage that aliens must use for space rock shows.

As for the show itself, U2 played songs from their new album No Line On The Horizon as well as older hits like “One”, “Unforgettable Fire”, “Pride” and “Where The Streets Have No Name”. They also did a tribute to Michael Jackson as they dedicated their song “Angel of Harlem” to him. Phil Spector’s mug shot…from hell!

You gotta love The Smoking Gun. It’s because of them we’ve been provided endless hours of entertainment due to all the celebrity mugshots they collect. And most recently they acquired Phil Spector’s mugshot and…dear God what is that thing?!

Spector was found guilty of second degree murder earlier this year. Dude, if that’s what jail does to you as soon as you get in I would hate to see you after a year. I’m pretty sure his cellmate won’t try to make him his bitch anytime soon.

Mastodon are on your feet

Shoes are starting to rock it out a bit these days. While the rocker shoe of choice would still be the Chuck Taylors made by Converse, coming in at a close second would have to be Vans.

And Vans has now stepped it up in the rock department by releasing a pair of shoes inspired by the metal band Mastodon. Pitchfork is reporting that the shoes will be on sale starting on July 6th and you can pre-order them from Rhino UK.

White Rabbits – Percussion Gun

It’s currently 4:10 am as I write this while wondering why I haven’t heard of these guys before. The band is White Rabbits out of NYC and their song “Percussion Gun” is now pounding in my head. The video is pretty rad and the song is absolutely killer.

And for an indie band these guys are gonna be all over the place. They’re touring throughout the country before playing a show at All Points West here in Jersey. I now have another to go to the APW Festival.

Jane’s Addiction caught with teleprompters

Now I know Jane’s Addiction has been around since the 80′s so they have aged a bit…but is Perry Farrell’s memory that bad?!

At a recent show on the NIN/JA tour with Nine Inch Nails, JA was caught using teleprompters on stage to remember their lyrics (courtesy of Music Radar). Now if my memory serves me, Jane’s Addiction has only recorded four albums which, compared to other acts, is not a whole lot of work. I mean cover bands play longer sets and different songs and they don’t use prompters or cue cards.

I guess when Perry tore his calf muscle during their first show he must have somehow injured his brain? Maybe? It’s something Dr. House should look into.

Blink-182 Reunion pics

In addition to Weezer playing at the T-Mobile show Thursday night in Los Angeles, Blink-182 took the stage after four years of not playing together.

Blink played a short set consisting of the songs “Rock Show”, “The Feeling” and “Dammit”. Even though it wasn’t a full setlist, the audience looked the part of being at a longer show with mosh pits, spilled beer, spilled blood and all smiles.

Perry Farrell and the hot nurse

If ambulances came equipped with hot rock star wives like Etty Farrell, I would injure myself every day.

But instead we see this photo of Perry Farrell after his very first gig on the NIN/JA tour. Turns out that the Jane’s Addiction frontman tore his calf muscle on stage after the very first song! Now the band did finish the rest of the gig before Perry was rushed to the hospital where we was told to stay off his leg for a few days.

Apparently this asshole has nothing better to do than ruin my day by announcing that Creed is reuniting for a summer tour and releasing a new album later this year.

Because of this new development, we now have to wait for new Alterbridge because Mark Tremonti and crew have to deal with this fuck up. I bet you anything Scott Stapp begged them to reunite because he couldn’t do anything on his own. In the story, it says that Stapp and Tremonti met up before Stapp had to sing the National Anthem at the Champs Sports Bowl…what the hell is that?! I feel bad for Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall because they’re the true talent. Stapp is a wart.
