Award season inches closer and closer and while we mostly focus on ceremonies like the Grammys, the Oscars also get our attention by way of the Best Original Song category. But 2013 will not be the year a rock band nabs a golden man as The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, and Mumford and Sons, among others, were snubbed in favor of songs from Skyfall and Les Miserables. Were any of our favorite bands worthy of a nomination this year? That’s what we want to know from you on today’s Rock it Out! Blog. Leave a comment down below.

Also on today’s episode, Sami talks about the debut full-length album from How to Destroy Angels, a new music video from Alice in Chains, the latest additions to South By Southwest, and the insane lineup that is Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players.

Blog to Consequence of Sound, his most desired interviewees, the one album that changed his life, and why he decided to shave his suave beard. (Editor’s note: Regarding ‘suave beard’ — thank god!)

If you haven’t heard, Billy Corgan has gone into the tea business. Yesterday, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman opened his very own teahouse in his hometown of Highland Park, IL. Inspired by the Chinoise teahouses found in Paris during the 1930s, Corgan designed Madame ZuZu’s to serve “as a social hub for the community, blending tea drinkers with the arts.”

Rock It Out! Blog was there for the grand opening, and had a chance to speak to Corgan about his latest venture. We also discussed if the teahouse would have an impact on his music career, what the future holds for the Pumpkins, and if the band planned to hit the music festival circuit in support of their newest album, Oceania.
