Motörhead added to Mayhem festival line up

It was only a matter of time before they fessed up to this happening. Earlier today it was announced that Motörhead would be joining the Mayhem festival line up alongside Slipknot and Slayer.

Frontman Lemmy Kilmister commented, “”Well, we’re used to mayhem in this band, so it’s kind of a family tradition! Bring it!” Oh it’s about to be brought-ed!

In addition to Slipknot, Slayer and Motörhead, other bands taking part in this year’s Mayhem festival include Anthrax, The Devil Wears Prada, Asking Alexandria, As I Lay Dying, High on Fire, Whitechapel and more. Tickets go on sale starting April 6th. More information can be found at the festival’s website.

Slipknot, Slayer headlining 2012 Mayhem Festival

Well this looks promising! This year’s Mayhem festival, the touring hard rock and metal celebration, has got itself quite a massive line up this year.

Slipknot and Slayer will be headlining the festival while the side stages will boast bands including Anthrax, Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, Whitechapel, High On Fire and As I Lay Dying. There’s also a special artist that will be announced on April 6th and the big rumor is that Motörhead will be that band. The festival will kick off on June 30th in San Bernardino, CA. Tickets go on sale starting April 6th at Livenation.com

So for all the American Slipknot fans that have really wanted the band back on home soil, you finally got your wish. Check out all the tour dates down below.

Metallica, Black Sabbath, The Prodigy headlining Download festival

UK rockers, get ready to do some dancing and some headbanging at Donington Park this year. The line up for the 10th annual Download festival was recently announced and the line up is rather big for fans of hard rock and metal.

Headlining this whole shindig are Metallica, Black Sabbath and The Prodigy. You’ve also got Chase & Status, Biffy Clyro and Soundgarden providing support (even though I think Soundgarden should be a headliner but that’s just me.) Other bands appearing include Tenacious D, Machine Head, Lamb of God, You Me At Six, Trivium, Devil Driver, August Burns Red, Anthrax, Little Angels, Devin Townshend Project and Ugly Kid Joe.

The festival will run from June 8-10 and you can buy tickets right now by heading to the Download website. I figure since there’s no Glastonbury festival this year, you can head to Download and take out your aggression there. What else were you gonna do? Mosh at the Olympics?

Okay, that would be pretty awesome…

Well look what we have here. A brand new song from Anthrax called “Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t” is now available to download for the small fee of an email address down below. You can also hear the song first to see if you even want to download it.

The track is the first one to be released from the band’s long-awaited, forthcoming album, Worship Music, which is in stores on September 13th. This is also the first album with vocalist Joey Belladonna in two decades. Now the song has been played by Anthrax live for the last few years but this is the first studio version of the track. Anthrax releasing new album, Worship Music, September 13

Anthrax has been quite busy for the past year. Just from playing shows with the Big Four of Thrash, that alone has put Anthrax back into the spotlight where prior to that, many people only knew Anthrax from Scott Ian’s beard…or from the white powder that can kill you. But now, it’s a whole new scenario and Anthrax is taking full advantage of it.

That being said, the band’s new album, Worship Music, is coming out on September 13th and on the following day, Anthrax will rock Yankee Stadium in the Bronx with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. This is also the band’s first new album in eight years and the first featuring the return of vocalist, Joey Belladonna, whose last album with Anthrax was 1990′s Persistence of Time.

Belladonna said, “I’m very happy with the record, it sounds like Anthrax…Now it’s time for the fans to listen and get what they’ve been waiting for. I’ll tell you, I’m really excited.”

A full world tour in support of Worship Music is expected to be announced soon.
