I’m so glad when bands I’ve interviewed get more exposure. Especially The Boxer Rebellion because not only are these guys a kick-ass band but they’re also genuinely great guys.

TBR are appearing on the soundtrack for the Drew Barrymore film Going The Distance which looks like it’ll be another soundtrack that indie-kids will have on their shelves. Other bands on the OST include Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Passion Pit, Band of Skulls, Cat Power and more.

What’s even cooler is that the guys are name checked in the film by Barrymore as her favorite band and they even play themselves in the movie. They told me before a gig at Mercury Lounge last year that they filmed their scene at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC. So they’ll get their taste of movie stardom and, hopefully, a lot more exposure in the U.S.

Check out their RiO!B interview right here and a debate they held as to which fans were better: U.S. or UK fans.

The soundtrack for the film New Moon recently went number one on the charts (and I helped put it there by purchasing my own copy). So in honor of the soundtrack being so successful, some of the artists from the album will be going on what has been dubbed “The Twilight Saga: New Moon Tour.” This tour will include the bands Death Cab for Cutie, Sea Wolf, Band of Skulls and Anya Marina.

The tour will officially kick off on November 6th in Los Angeles, CA at the Hollywood & Highland complex. All it takes to get into the show is the purchase of a New Moon t-shirt from a Hot Topic and you get to watch the bands and have a Q&A session with some of the cast members at some of the mall stops on the tour (via CoS). Oh I bet that’ll be so thrilling!

All the tour dates are down below. I don’t think I could bring myself to attend this event even if I was invited. It’s like going to a show for all the wrong reasons. Seriously if I went to this show I would feel like a chaperone at a 6th grade tiny vampire dance. Although it would be fun to spike the punch…

11/06 – Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood & Highland Center
11/08 – Denver, CO @ Park Meadows
11/09 – Boston, MA @ Natick Collection

I am not a fan of Twilight. The books, the movies, the whole idea. I just never saw the appeal. However the soundtrack for the upcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon, may be a record that makes it into my collection.

Indie-rock fans are probably jizzing their skinny jeans over the recent announcement of the tracklisting for the soundtrack (via Consequence of Sound) that will accompany pale vampires on screen.

Bands like Band of Skulls, Bon Iver & St. Vincent, Grizzly Bear, The Killers, Thom Yorke of Radiohead and more will be contributing to what could be the coolest looking soundtrack I’ve seen in a good long while. Will this make me go see the movie? Not a chance but I will hit up my record store for a copy of this album. The full tracklisting is down below. Prepare to be wowed.

01. Death Cab for Cutie – Meet Me on the Equinox
02. Band of Skulls – Friends
03. Thom Yorke – Hearing Damage
04. Lykke Li – Possibility
09. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Done All Wrong
10. Hurricane Bells – Monsters
11. Sea Wolf – The Violet Hour
