You should know by now that The Flaming Lips are making this year’s Record Store Day a big one for them. They’re releasing a brand new album, The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, which features collaborations with everyone from Bon Iver to Coldplay to Ke$ha.

The Flaming Lips release details of Record Store Day album

The Flaming Lips are planning on making a big splash on Record Store Day with the release of a brand new album featuring collaborations with pretty much everyone in music.

Entitled The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends, the album features 13 songs and collaborations with everyone from Coldplay, Bon Iver and Yoko Ono to Ke$ha and Biz Markie. It will be released as a limited edition multi-vinyl set with two multi-colored 12″ records placed in separate art jackets and bagged together. CoS points out that no two albums will look alike and this will be the only pressing of this album. The tracklisting is down below.

The Flaming Lips are also releasing a Side By Side 7″ on Record Store Day with Mastodon. One side will feature the Lips’ track, A Spoonful Weighs A Ton, and the other side will feature Mastodon’s cover.

Record Store Day happens on April 21st.

I’ve never been to Bonnaroo. I’ve always wanted to go but I never had the money/didn’t have the time/wasn’t impressed by the line up. But I am making it my mission to get down to Tennessee this year for the ‘Roo because, dammit, I wanna listen to good music while on lots of drugs.

The line up for the Bonnaroo festival has been announced and it’s quite a big one this year. Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Phish are headlining this year’s installment. Other acts including The Beach Boys, Bon Iver, The Shins, Foster The People, Skrillex and The Avett Brothers are also performing. But wait! There’s more!

You’ve also got Feist, The Roots, Alice Cooper, SuperJam, Black Star, Ben Folds Five, Flogging Molly, The Word, Ludacris, Mac Miller, Major Lazer, Flying Lotus, Umphrey’s McGee, Little Dragon, St. Vincent, The Black Lips, The Civil Wars, Young The Giant, Two Door Cinema Club, Fitz & The Tantrums, Bad Brains, Battles, Aziz Ansari, The Joy Formidable, Alabama Shakes, Das Racist, Mogwai, Mariachi El Bronx, K-Flay, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and a whole lot more!

Foo Fighters, Adele dominate the 2012 Grammy Awards

Well there it is. A night of winners, losers, performances we hated, performances we loved, tributes to fallen stars and fans bitching via social media about how the Grammys continue to suck because their favorite artist didn’t win.

The annual Sasquatch festival, definitely a festival that I need to attend in the very near future, announced a killer line up for this year’s installment.

Recently solo Jack White, along with Beck and Bon Iver, will be headlining the George, WA based four-day event which runs from May 25-28. Also leading the way are Pretty Lights, Tenacious D, The Shins, Girl Talk, St. Vincent, Feist, and Silversun Pickups. But that’s not all who you’ll get to see at the Gorge Ampitheatre this year.

Also performing this year are Metric, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, The Head & The Heart, M. Ward, The Civil Wars, Little Dragon, The Joy Formidable, The Walkmen, Wild Flag, Spiritualized, fun., Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Deer Tick, Alabama Shakes, We Are Augustines and many more. Radiohead, The Black Keys, Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg headlining Coachella

Well here it is! The lineup that kicks off festival season for 2012 is finally here. Coachella, which takes place in Indio, California on consecutive weekends, will boast the following headliners: The Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg.

Other performers appearing at Coachella this year include At The Drive-in, Pulp, Refused, Arctic Monkeys, Bon Iver, Florence & The Machine, M83, Beirut and plenty of dance acts including AVICII, Afrojack, Girl Talk, Swedish House Mafia and many more.

This year’s Coachella festival will be different from previous ones because this year the festival will run on two consecutive weekends. The festival will take place from April 13-15 and April 20-22. All of the acts booked for the festival will perform on both weekends.

The National premiere two brand new songs

We’re just about done with 2011 and the music industry is about ready to close up shop for the holiday season. But before that happens, let’s drop two brand new songs from The National for your ears to listen to.

Over on Canada’s Q Live for CBC Radio, the Brooklyn band debuted two brand new songs live called “Rylan” and “I Need My Girl”. You can give those a listen right over here. Furthermore, the band also performed their songs “Vanderlay Crybaby Geeks” with special guest Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. The video of that performance can be seen down below.

The National are wrapping up their tour this month with a six show stint at New York City’s Beacon Theatre from December 12th to December 17th.

Well there it is. The Grammy. The award that artists strive to win and the one that bloggers and fans hate. Primarily because, as fans, we feel that OUR favorite bands deserve all the accolades and fuck the rest. But this award ceremony offers us a place to vent our frustrations and reaffirm our hatred for genres and artists we can’t stand. There’s gonna be a lot of hate for one Justin Bieber again…even if he isn’t nominated for anything.
