Watch: Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers perform at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Besides all of the craziness of Coachella, there was also something else that went on this past weekend that celebrated music. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place in Cleveland, OH on Saturday, April 14th and celebrated acts like Guns N’ Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Even though Axl Rose decided to boycott the event, the other four members of the original line up showed up and even performed three songs without Rose. Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy filled in as the vocalist and did rather well as he sang “Mr. Brownstone”, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City”.

The Chili Peppers were also missing a member. Guitarist John Frusciante decided to opt out of the event but there was still a reunion between the Peppers and past drummers Jack Irons and Cliff Martinez. The two of them joined in on performances of “By The Way”, “Give It Away” and “The Adventures Of Raindance Maggie”. They also performed their version of Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” and invited GnR guitarist Slash, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and George Clinton to play along.

Guns N’ Roses is getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year but Axl Rose wants no part of it.

In a letter posted by Rose on the Guns N’ Roses Facebook page, he says, “I won’t be attending The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction 2012 Ceremony and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.” He added that the decision was personal and it’s not meant to “offend, attack or contend.” I’m guessing he wants to spend more time playing “Video Games” with his new tail piece.

Rose goes on to say, “I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf. Neither former members, label representatives nor the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame should imply whether directly, indirectly or by omission that I am included in any purported induction of ‘Guns N’ Roses’.”

Oh, and just to add more tinder to this fire, Rose also addressed the possibility of the original line up of GnR doing a reunion tour. He said, “In regard to a reunion of any kind of either the Appetite or Illusion lineups, I’ve publicly made myself more than clear. Nothing’s changed.” Well that’s a big fat NO, isn’t it?

The induction ceremony will take place on April 14th in Cleveland, OH.

Did ya miss Guns N’ Roses when they toured North America and hit the arenas? Well not to worry because they’re hitting the road again and this time they’re going to be a bit more intimate.

Axl Rose and the collection of musicians that make up GnR are doing a six-date tour along the East Coast and Chicago this coming February (via CoS). The band announced three shows in New York City at venues including Terminal 5, Roseland Ballroom and Webster Hall which, if you’ve not been to these venues, are quite small in comparison to where GnR usually play.

All the tour dates are listed down below. A pre-sale for tickets for NYC shows starts up on January 31st at 10:00 am EST and the general sale will take place on Wednesday, February 1st. A pre-sale for the other dates starts on Wednesday, February 1st and will go on sale publicly on Friday, February 3rd. Visit the band’s website for all the information.

Fans of Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The three bands will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14th, 2012 at the Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH.

Other inductees will include Donovan, singer/songwriter Laura Nyro and The Faces whose lineup once boasted artists like Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood. The Cure, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Eric B. & Rakim missed the honor this year.

So now the big question will be whether GnR will reunite on stage to accept the honor or will Axl diva out and refuse to walk on stage with Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven Adler. Or perhaps this will be the catalyst to finally get a proper Guns n’ Roses reunion? Either way, it’s good that they’ve finally been recognized for their contribution to rock music because whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, they wrote some bad ass tunes back in the day.

Of course, the Chili Peppers will show up and most likely John Frusciante will be there as well. The Beasties never broke up so maybe this will be an opportunity for them to finally perform live again. In any case, HBO will air the ceremony in May of 2012 so set your DVR from now.

11/11/11 was National Metal Day (as dubbed by VH1 Classic) and they dedicated their day’s programming to all things metal. Included in that line up was the first interview that Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose had done in five years. Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson of That Metal Show hosted the interview and you can see part one of the conversation up top.

Down below are parts two and three. Note that the hosts enjoy stressing that GnR had just played a three-hour show in Miami, FL. Because no one can play for three hours, right? Just the Foo Fighters, Prince, Springsteen, McCartney…but I digress.

Also discussed are the original idea for the cover of Appetite For Destruction. No, not the robot raping the topless chick but a picture of the space shuttle Challenger exploding after lift off. Rose also talks about the band’s nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Chinese Democracy and what he’s been listening to these days.
