Seasick Steve on guitar, Alison Mosshart on sexy and vocals, Jack White on drums and John Paul Jones on bass. We’ve just seen the creation of probably the greatest new supergroup on the planet. These four came together at the iTunes Festival in London and played a Steve song called “Write Me A Few Of Your Lines” for an extremely lucky audience. Now you get to check it out. Enjoy.

Trent Reznor will never let me down. We cheered when he won an Academy Award for his work on The Social Network. We got excited when it was announced he was scoring The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Now, we can lose our shit that the dark, industrial lord recruited Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O to cover Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” for the movie.

It’s been confirmed by Pitchfork that the duo’s cover of the classic track appears in the trailer for the movie which you can catch if you head to the theaters and watch The Hangover II. Which means at some point in the very near future, the trailer will pop up online and we’ll have it here. For now, just imagine Reznor’s take on one of the best bands on the planet and grin from ear to ear.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is in theaters on December 21st.

UPDATE: Check out the trailer down below thanks to an anonymous tip from NIN Hotline. It’s so sick.

You probably don’t know who David Garrett since you listen to rock music and not classical. But you should get to know him because he’s got my seal of approval. Garrett is a 28-year-old classical violinist who also holds the Guinness world record for being the fastest violinist on the planet.

The reason I interviewed him, though, is because he’s just released a new album called Rock Symphonies. He covers bands like Nirvana, Metallica, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and Guns N’ Roses on the record and in our interview, he played a small bit of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” just for fun. The guy absolutely killed it. Oh and FYI, the violin he plays in the interview is a Stradivarius that’s worth $5 million.

Check it out and head over to his website to get more info on him. I actually want to see him in concert when he tours the U.S.

At this point, it would be useless to say anything about a Led Zeppelin reunion happening since all the surviving members are exploring new opportunities.

Lead singer Robert Plant has put together a new group called Robert Plant and the Band of Joy (via CoS). The new group includes Patty Griffin on vocals, Buddy Miller on guitar, Darrell Scott as the resident multi-instrumentalist, Byron House on bass and Marco Giovino behind the drumkit.

This new band will tour the southern United States throughout the month of July in support of their upcoming debut album. The first show takes place on July 13 in Memphis, TN. All the tour dates are down below.

While this band will probably focus on its new music during the tour, I’m pretty sure the majority of the audience will be there simply for Plant’s presence and the hope that they may hear at least one Led Zep tune sung by the legendary frontman. Because, as of right now, that’s as close as anyone will get hearing a Zeppelin song with the original vocals.

Robert Plant and the Band of Joy tour dates:
7/13 – Memphis, TN @ Orpheum Theater
7/15 – Little Rock, AR @ Robinson Center Music Hall
7/16 – Tulsa, OK @ Brady Theater
7/18 – Albuquerque, NM @ Sandia Casion Amphitheater
7/20 – Phoenix, AZ @ Dodge Theater
7/21 – Tucson, AZ @ Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater
7/23 – Dallas, TX @ Meyerson Symphony Hall
7/24 – Houston, TX @ Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion
7/26 – Austin, TX @ Stubbs Waller Creek Amphitheater
7/28 – Mobile, AL @ The Saenger Theatre
7/30 – Clearwater, FL @ Ruth Eckerd Hall
7/31 – Miami, FL @ Bayfront Park Amphitheater

Steven Tyler is thinking of suing his band mates in Aerosmith should they pursue a new singer for the group. But, at one point, Tyler himself wanted to front another iconic band by the name of Led Zeppelin.

Noisecreep reports that Tyler spoke to Jimmy Page’s manager and flew out to England and auditioned to be the new singer for Zeppelin after singer Robert Plant turned down the idea of a reunion, according to guitarist Joe Perry.

“[He flew to London and tried] out for Led Zeppelin. It’s something I’ve never talked about before,” Perry said. “It’s a kind of window into how hard it’s been to keep the partnership together. It’s not the first time things like this have happened- that’s the downside of our relationship.”

So how did the audition go? Apparently they were “shambolic” as Perry described it. Tyler allegedly wasn’t familiar with Led Zep’s songs and thought they would work on new material.

“”Page felt really awkward about the audition,” Perry said. “Ultimately it was a group decision [to pass on Tyler].”

I’m actually glad that it didn’t work out. While Tyler has the range to sing Zeppelin songs, his voice just wouldn’t have matched the music. Plus, at the time, Aerosmith was still one big happy family so why would he have left his legendary band for what probably would have been a few reunion shows? Let’s all just be grateful.
