Twice in one week. Metallica is really enjoying their 30th anniversary celebration...or just really trying to help us forget about Lulu.
Earlier this week, Metallica released the previously unreleased track, "Hate Train," which was recorded during the Death Magnetic sessions. Well now we've got another previously unreleased track, via Blabbermouth,… Read More

Need to get the sound of Lulu out of your head? This might help a little bit.

Down below you can check out a previously unreleased song from Metallica's most recent album, Death Magnetic, called "Hate Train". This is the demo version of the song that the band's MetClub sent out to all of its members. The band also recently played this song for the first time on Monday, December 5th at the Fillmore in San Francisco, CA. Metallica is celebrating their 30th anniversary… Read More

Watch: Lou Reed and Metallica perform on Later…with Jools Holland

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

A car wreck. A tornado. A drunken bar fight at 2 am. A horribly disfigured person. These are all things that we still can't manage to pry our eyes away from. We just have to look even though we know they're devastating. We now have one more thing to add to that list: Lou Reed and Metallica performing "Iced Honey" from the awful Lulu.
Up top you can watch them perform the song "Iced Honey" during their appearance on Later...with Jools Holland. Down below, to try and make up for the Lulu… Read More

Darren Aronofsky to direct music video for “Iced Honey” from Lulu

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Darren Aronofsky is a great director. Black Swan, The Wrestler, and Requiem For A Dream are just a few of the phenomenal films that he has helmed. Now I'm not one to question someone's artistic integrity and vision...but what the fuck, Darren?
Over at the Lou Reed/Metallica website, an announcement was made that Aronofsky would direct a music video for the… Read More

Review: Lou Reed & Metallica – Lulu

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

On today's Rock it Out! Blog, I review the Lou Reed/Metallica album, Lulu. If you haven't listened to this record yet, it might be better if you don't. It's uninspiring and really has no redeeming qualities about it.
Yes, some of the riffs on the album are okay but it's Lou Reed's vocals that spoil the whole record. He speaks through the whole album and the lyrics have no depth since he sounds like he's rambling.
What are your thoughts on the album? Stream it here… Read More

Listen: Lou Reed & Metallica – Lulu

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Oh look. Since Lou Reed and Metallica's Lulu has leaked onto the interwebz, they decided to stream the entire album before it's release on November 1st. You can head to the album's website to hear it in its entirety. Although friends of mine have thrown off their headphones in disgust about 1:46 into the first track...and it's a 70+ minute album. Oh boy. Read More
