Trent Reznor says new How To Destroy Angels and Nine Inch Nails coming in 2012

Trent Reznor is a busy guy. Working on a score for the David Fincher film, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, is no walk in the park. And even though Reznor is focused on putting out a fantastic soundtrack, he’s already looking ahead to the future.

Speaking with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, Reznor dropped some information on a forthcoming album from his side project, How To Destroy Angels, which features his wife Mariqueen Maandig and writing partner/fellow Oscar winner Atticus Ross. Reznor said that a new album from HTDA would arrive next year and he also revealed that the band is weighing out options for some live shows next year as well.

Of course, everyone is wondering as to whether Reznor will ever bring back Nine Inch Nails. Reznor did say that he plans on spending a good amount of 2012 writing new material with NIN in mind. So there’s that glimmer of hope for you.

Tribute albums can usually suck…unless, of course, certain artists perform on said album then it can significantly suck less. Case in point, down below you can check out Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and The Killers all covering tracks from U2′s Achtung Baby for AKH-toong BAY-bi Covered, the album that celebrates the 20th anniversary of U2′s memorable album.

NIN takes on “Zoo Station” whilst Depeche Mode and The Killers give their interpretations of “So Cruel” and “Ultraviolet (Light My Way)”, respectively. Also, if you haven’t head Jack White’s rendition of “Love Is Blindness” then you should spin that a couple hundred times before rocking these tracks.

AKH-toong BAY-bi Covered is available with the newest issue of Q Magazine which is currently out.

Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, Jack White appearing on U2 tribute album

We’ve talked about this album before. Jack White, Patti Smith and Damian Rice would be covering songs from U2′s Achtung Baby for an upcoming 20th anniversary tribute album. But we’ve got the full tracklisting now and it’s way more interesting.

Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, Depeche Mode, Garbage, Snow Patrol and more will also appear on the album, cleverly dubbed Akh-toong Bay-bi, just to help out those who can’t pronounce the first word of the album properly. Q Magazine will be releasing the tribute album along with their new issue which is out on October 26th. The full tracklisting for the album is down below.

To further celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album, the U2 documentary, From The Sky Down, will premiere on Showtime on October 29th.

Fight Club writer will pen NIN miniseries, Year Zero

So we’ve got a little more information regarding the forthcoming HBO series Year Zero which is based on the Nine Inch Nails album of the same name.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Fight Club writer Jim Uhls will write the series that Trent Reznor is producing. It will be based around the concept of the album which is based in the year 2022 and is a future that’s warped by a corrupt government. Reznor focused most of his concept on the U.S. government and specifically the administration of George W. Bush.

So far there’s still no set date as to when the series will premiere or even go into production. So for now, go back and listen to the album and see if you can visualize what the show will look like.

Being that it’s Friday and the weekend is pretty much here, why not kick things off with a kick ass remix of some of your favorite bands?

Electronic artist Pretty Lights (aka Derek Smith) has taken on quite a few remixes and put his touch on everything from Kanye West to the theme song from the Chicago Bulls. But now he’s taken Radiohead, Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails, thrown them in a mash up and come up with a dubstep remix that’s ready to be played in any club.

The tracks that get the remix treatment are Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place,” Nirvana’s “All Apologies” and NIN’s “Closer.” You can check it out down below and, if you’re a fan, head to his website to download your own copy for the cost of an email address. Enjoy!
