Shinedown, Korn headlining Carolina Rebellion festival

The Carolina Rebellion, the hard rock festival that takes place in North Carolina, is back once again boasting yet another line up for you to rock out to.

Shinedown and Korn are headlining this year’s installment, which will take place on May 5th at the Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, NC. Other artists performing include Five Finger Death Punch, Evanescence, Staind, Slash, Chevelle, Halestorm, Adelitas Way, Volbeat, Paper Tongues and more.

Tickets go on sale starting February 17th at 10am EST at the festival’s website or at Ticketmaster. A pre-sale will be held starting Wednesday, February 15th and you can gain access to it by heading to the festival’s site to sign up for their newsletter.

The second solo album from Slash is set to be released on May 22nd via his own label, Dik Hayd International. While the album has no title or track listing yet, it will only feature his touring band this time including Alter Bridge guitarist Myles Kennedy, drummer Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns. Unlike his debut album, which featured a different singer on almost every track, Slash explained in an interview that this album was all done in house. “Myles and I basically collaborated on the new material. The main thing is we wrote these songs together which is a big difference from the last album where I wrote each song with all of the different collaborators. The whole creative nucleus is between Myles and me. On top of this, the whole rhythm section of Brent and Todd brings something to the table and changes the dynamic completely from the last record–it’s much more cohesive.”

I think people tend to forget about the Rock On The Range festival. Even though it brings big acts to Columbus, OH on a yearly basis, it’s not one of those festivals that sticks out in one’s mind when you’re planning what fests to head to in the summer. Regardless, ROTR is back this year with a pretty interesting line up.

Incubus, Rob Zombie, Shinedown and Marilyn Manson will be headlining the three-day festival which runs from May 18-20 at Crew Stadium. Other acts playing this year include Mastodon, Megadeth, Slash, Chevelle, Volbeat, Theory Of A Deadman, The Darkness, Halestorm, Lacuna Coil, Cypress Hill, Five Finger Death Punch and many more. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster starting February 10th at 10 am EST and pre-sale happens on February 7th at 10 am EST.

We’re changing the Rock it Out! Blog

The Rock it Out! Blog has become stale, bland and downright boring. The show isn’t fun to make anymore and probably not as much fun to watch. Which is why we’re making a few changes to this little internet program.

First off, the RiO!B will start broadcasting only three days a week with much bigger stories to report. Fewer episodes means people have more chances to watch and catch up with the show. Also, every Monday night, we’ll do a Blog TV episode. I need to start connecting to you guys on a much more personal level. Finally, unsigned bands will be promoted weekly on the RiO!B.

Sadly, we had to get rid of someone very close to the show. It may sadden a lot of you but I feel it’s for the better. Hopefully you’re not too upset.

Time to do what we do best. Rock it Out! Join us…

Will Corey Taylor become the new singer for Velvet Revolver? That’s not confirmed but what we DO know is that Slash has fessed up to the fact that Taylor is the lead candidate for the job.

Speaking to the Charlotte Observer, the guitarist said “There was truth to the rumor that we were looking at Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), but then I left for tour. So there’s nothing being done at the moment. No decision.”

Slash had recently said that the rumor of Taylor trying out was “blown out of proportion” after bassist Duff McKagan said on an ESPN.com chat that the Stone Sour/Slipknot singer had the qualities that made guys like Scott Weiland and Axl Rose great frontmen. So far, Taylor’s only response to the rumors swirling around him was three words to Billboard: “To be continued!”

Taylor is currently on tour with Stone Sour and shows no sign of stopping as the band will play multiple festivals in the U.S. this summer. All of Stone Sour’s dates can be found at their website.
