The first single from Slash’s forthcoming album, Apocalyptic Love, has made it’s way into the world and it’s here to make some arena-rock style noise.

Down below, you can stream “You’re A Lie” which features Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy on vocals. Kennedy will serve as the vocalist on the entire album and will front Slash’s band when they tour behind the album.

As for the song itself, it’s definitely a rocker. If you’re a distortion freak, expect to jump up and down in place while quickly learning the chorus so you can scream along with Kennedy at the top of your lungs. Once that’s done, learn the riff for the song and, BOOM, you’re an instant rock star.

Apocalyptic Love is in stores on May 22.

Black Sabbath cancels European reunion tour dates

This isn’t fun for anyone. Sorry, Black Sabbath fans, but if you were all set to see the legendary metal band back in action this summer, you’re not gonna get your chance.

The band announced that they’re canceling all of their upcoming European reunion dates save for their appearance at the Download festival on June 10th. The reason behind the cancelations is due to guitarist Tony Iommi and his lymphoma treatments that he has to undergo.

Instead, the shows are now being billed as “Ozzy and Friends.” Ozzy Osbourne will still appear at the scheduled Sabbath tour dates along with bassist Geezer Butler but they’ll be joined by guitarist Zakk Wylde and other special guests including Slash. Those tour dates can be seen down below.

The band is still working on its forthcoming studio album which is expected to be released this year.

Rob Zombie, Chickenfoot headlining Rocklahoma festival

The annual Rocklahoma festival is back this year from May 25-27 and the line up was just announced…and I’m not too pleased about it.

Rob Zombie, Chickenfoot and Creed will be headlining the three-day event. Other bands performing include Megadeth, Slash, Queensrÿche, Chevelle, Theory of a Deadman, Jackyl, Puddle Of Mudd, Hellyeah, P.O.D., Volbeat, 10 Years, Cavo, Adelitas Way, Black Stone Cherry, Pop Evil, Red, The Darkness, Art of Dying, Trivium and more. I’m only writing this post because I know some of you would find a festival like this to be your dream. It’s not my dream but, you know, some of these bands just throw me off a bit. I can’t, in good conscience, go to a festival where Creed is a headliner. There are PLENTY of other bands that could have filled that spot but I guess the south loves them some Scott Stapp. Personally, Alter Bridge would have been a much better pick but since Miles Kennedy is Slash’s singer now, that’d be a bit much on the guy. Oh well…

Shinedown, Korn headlining Carolina Rebellion festival

The Carolina Rebellion, the hard rock festival that takes place in North Carolina, is back once again boasting yet another line up for you to rock out to.

Shinedown and Korn are headlining this year’s installment, which will take place on May 5th at the Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, NC. Other artists performing include Five Finger Death Punch, Evanescence, Staind, Slash, Chevelle, Halestorm, Adelitas Way, Volbeat, Paper Tongues and more.

Tickets go on sale starting February 17th at 10am EST at the festival’s website or at Ticketmaster. A pre-sale will be held starting Wednesday, February 15th and you can gain access to it by heading to the festival’s site to sign up for their newsletter.

The second solo album from Slash is set to be released on May 22nd via his own label, Dik Hayd International. While the album has no title or track listing yet, it will only feature his touring band this time including Alter Bridge guitarist Myles Kennedy, drummer Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns. Down below, you can check out video of the band working together in the recording studio.

Unlike his debut album, which featured a different singer on almost every track, Slash explained in an interview that this album was all done in house. “Myles and I basically collaborated on the new material. The main thing is we wrote these songs together which is a big difference from the last album where I wrote each song with all of the different collaborators. The whole creative nucleus is between Myles and me. On top of this, the whole rhythm section of Brent and Todd brings something to the table and changes the dynamic completely from the last record–it’s much more cohesive.”

I think people tend to forget about the Rock On The Range festival. Even though it brings big acts to Columbus, OH on a yearly basis, it’s not one of those festivals that sticks out in one’s mind when you’re planning what fests to head to in the summer. Regardless, ROTR is back this year with a pretty interesting line up.

Incubus, Rob Zombie, Shinedown and Marilyn Manson will be headlining the three-day festival which runs from May 18-20 at Crew Stadium. Other acts playing this year include Mastodon, Megadeth, Slash, Chevelle, Volbeat, Theory Of A Deadman, The Darkness, Halestorm, Lacuna Coil, Cypress Hill, Five Finger Death Punch and many more. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster starting February 10th at 10 am EST and pre-sale happens on February 7th at 10 am EST.

We’re changing the Rock it Out! Blog

The Rock it Out! Blog has become stale, bland and downright boring. The show isn’t fun to make anymore and probably not as much fun to watch. Which is why we’re making a few changes to this little internet program.

First off, the RiO!B will start broadcasting only three days a week with much bigger stories to report. Fewer episodes means people have more chances to watch and catch up with the show. Also, every Monday night, we’ll do a Blog TV episode. I need to start connecting to you guys on a much more personal level. Finally, unsigned bands will be promoted weekly on the RiO!B.

Sadly, we had to get rid of someone very close to the show. It may sadden a lot of you but I feel it’s for the better. Hopefully you’re not too upset.
