Billy Corgan starts his own wrestling league

You know what? I’m not surprised by this. Not at all. We’ve been making fun of Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and his love for pro wrestling for a while now. So it makes sense that Corgan would finally take his obsession with wrasslin’ to a whole new level and start his own wrestling company called Resistance Pro Wrestling.

Speaking to Fox News in Chicago, Corgan announced the creation of his company. But not only will Resistance Pro feature talent like former ECW champ Raven and former WWE tag team champion David Hart Smith, Corgan says his company has teamed up with the Sports Legacy Institute to raise awareness of concussions. You can check out Corgan’s interview down below and you can also check out Resistance Pro’s first event on November 25th in Chicago.

The Smashing Pumpkins are trying to get people interested in them once again and they’re doing it in a quite clever way. Everybody talks fondly of the band’s earliest recordings, with albums like Gish and Siamese Dream making us smile when we mention them. So Billy Corgan has announced the making of the Smashing Pumpkins Record Club where, if you head to the band’s website and type in your email address, you’ll be sent the early demo of the song “Drown” for free.

Corgan recently released a video (via Hipsters United), where he talked about the discovery of the demo.

“I’ve got a few details to update you on what’s going on with the archival reissues and the debut of the Smashing Pumpkins Record Club, what we’re calling the SPRC…the first song we’re going to release for free is a demo recording of “Drown,” which we found in going through the archives. It was recorded roughly around the end of ’91, early ’92, somewhere in the Gish touring we were writing songs which we hoped were going to be for Siamese Dream. And I believe in a couple days we recorded five demos: ‘Luna,’ ‘STP,’ ‘Drown,’ ‘Silver[fuck],’ and something else I can’t remember. And so this is the actual demo from that time. And as part of what we’re going to do here with the Record Club, we’re going to provide certain materials that the band worked with to make its decisions. So although we eventually hope to offer this demo for sale, remixed and updated to 96k 24-bit status, which all our releases will be available as 96k 24-bit unmastered files, the “Drown” here that you’ll have will be the actual rough mix from the time. ”

Expect more demos to make their way to the Record Club within the next few weeks for free as well. Hey, I might not be a fan of new Smashing Pumpkins but I’ll be damned if I try to defy some of the music from my younger days.

Smashing Pumpkins announce 12-date US tour

In case you’re interested, the Smashing Pumpkins have announced a 12-date tour across the U.S. that kicks off on October 5th in Los Angeles. It comes to a close on October 22nd in Philadelphia and tickets for most shows go on sale at August 19th. The band continues to work on the 44-song project, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, while also working on their newest album, Oceania. All the dates are down below.

So…..Billy Corgan likes wrestling? A lot? The music video up top…oh, sorry, the “short film” for the new Smashing Pumpkins song “Owata” can be viewed up top, courtesy of Yahoo Music, if you have the patience. Seriously, it’s two semi-attractive chicks with decent racks wrestling in the squared circle in a seedy gym for an underground wrestling circuit.

The song, which is a part of SP’s ongoing musical project, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, can be downloaded for free at their website but….I don’t even know what this video means. Corgan has lost me. I don’t even…ugh…I used to really like this band! What the hell?!

Tracklisting for Smashing Pumpkins new album, Oceania, revealed

Color me not all that excited for the new Smashing Pumpkins album, Oceania. I mean, I haven’t really even been paying attention to Teargarden by Kaleidyscope and you can download those songs for free. But I do know that there are still some loyal Pumpkins fans out there so I feel it necessary to offer up this information even though I feel the Pumpkins haven’t been relevant in a long while.

Frontman/bald enthusiast Billy Corgan hopped on to Twitter yesterday and revealed the tracklisting for Oceania. Those song titles are listed down below but they come with warning from Corgan. He later tweeted, “Ladies and Gentleman, please take note that all titles are subject to change.” So all of these names could just be a lie to get you all hot and bothered over the new album which is apparently coming out later this year. Enjoy.

Even though I and many other people have stopped caring, the Smashing Pumpkins continue to plug away at their music. Even though I forgot about the whole Teargarden by Kaleidyscope project, I feel that some of you may give a shit about this band so I feel it necessary to bring you a bit of information straight from the mouth of Billy Corgan.

Corgan put out a video at the band’s Facebook page that listed the following things. First, the band is releasing a new song called “Owata” either this week or next week that you can download for free at their website. Secondly, Corgan revealed that the band will be recording a new album called Oceania this summer and will hopefully release it in September.

“But wait, Sami, isn’t the Teargarden project SP’s new album?” How about you shut the fuck up so I can finish? Corgan called Oceania an “album within an album” and that it will feature anywhere from 9-11 songs but it will still be a part of the Teargarden project. See what happens when you listen? You get all the details…dick.

Also, and this part is actually cool, the band is re-issuing all of their past albums. Starting this Christmas, Gish, Siamese Dream and Pisces Iscariot should be in stores. In 2012, Mellon Collie, The Aeroplane Flies High and Adore will be released and come 2013, Machina and Machina II will be put out. In addition to the albums being remastered, previously unheard tracks, b-sides and more will also be included on the albums.

Finally, Corgan said the band is plotting out tour dates for America and Europe starting this August. No dates have been finalized yet.
