Tribute albums can usually suck…unless, of course, certain artists perform on said album then it can significantly suck less. Case in point, down below you can check out Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and The Killers all covering tracks from U2′s Achtung Baby for AKH-toong BAY-bi Covered, the album that celebrates the 20th anniversary of U2′s memorable album.

NIN takes on “Zoo Station” whilst Depeche Mode and The Killers give their interpretations of “So Cruel” and “Ultraviolet (Light My Way)”, respectively. Also, if you haven’t head Jack White’s rendition of “Love Is Blindness” then you should spin that a couple hundred times before rocking these tracks.

AKH-toong BAY-bi Covered is available with the newest issue of Q Magazine which is currently out.

We’ve talked about this album before. Jack White, Patti Smith and Damian Rice would be covering songs from U2′s Achtung Baby for an upcoming 20th anniversary tribute album. But we’ve got the full tracklisting now and it’s way more interesting.

Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, Depeche Mode, Garbage, Snow Patrol and more will also appear on the album, cleverly dubbed Akh-toong Bay-bi, just to help out those who can’t pronounce the first word of the album properly. Q Magazine will be releasing the tribute album along with their new issue which is out on October 26th. The full tracklisting for the album is down below.

To further celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album, the U2 documentary, From The Sky Down, will premiere on Showtime on October 29th.

This seems to have been the year for rock and roll documentaries. Foo Fighters had one, Kings of Leon had one, Pearl Jam has one coming real soon. So why not let U2 into the mix?

Up top is the trailer for the documentary, From The Sky Down, directed by Davis Guggenheim who also did An Inconvenient Truth. The documentary features Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen talking about the album, Achtung Baby. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the LP and the doc has the band head back to Hansa Studios in Berlin where they recorded the album to re-visit it.

From The Sky Down will premiere on Showtime on October 29th. There’s also a tribute album for Achtung Baby coming soon and features artists like Jack White and Patti Smith covering the songs from the album.

A tribute album honoring the 20th anniversary of U2′s classic, Achtung Baby, will feature artists including Jack White, Depeche Mode, Patti Smith, Damian Rice and more covering the songs from the album.

Rolling Stone reports that Bono revealed who would be covering what on the album at a press conference at the Toronto International Film Festival. The frontman said, “Jack White does ‘Love Is Blindness,’ Depeche Mode do ‘So Cruel,’ Patti Smith did ‘Until the End of the World,’ Damian Rice does ‘One.’ It just goes on.” Bono added, “And it’s strange, because when I hear the album, when U2 do it, all I hear is what’s wrong with it. But when I heard all these artists doing it, I thought, ‘It’s really good.’”

Bono also said that artist Damien Hirst just finished a video for the track, “Even Better Than The Real Thing.” “He made a very special art work, which has only been shown once and probably won’t be shown again, because [it was for the] Glastonbury festival and it’s an extraordinary work of art.”

So far no release date for the album has been set.

Boy oh boy. What a weekend, right? The Glastonbury festival, what some consider to be the best music festival on earth, ended up wowing, surprising and shocking festival attendees and those of us who watched from home.

Between headlining sets from Coldplay, U2 and Beyonce to surprise sets from Radiohead and Pulp, this year’s installment had something for everyone. Now since we’re a rock music website, we’re gonna bring you the highlights from some of the bands that rocked the UK in the rain and in the sun. Check out all the videos down below. BTW, you should know that Glasto takes 2012 off due to the Olympics in London. Which means you’ve got plenty of time to build up hype for the 2013 festival.
